Where I stayed

Well our independent travelling has finally began, It has been great staying with friends and family until now and I envisage our standards are about to take a sudden sharp downturn. We spent 5 days at Cotteslow Beach in Perth. We did not book ahead and there were no double rooms left. I ended up in a dorm with 5 other men all of who snored. Managed to move into a private room the next day which was much nicer and only one snored. Perth was ok but having spent all our time so far in cities we were keen to get moving up the coast. We booked onto the Easyrider jump on jump off bus. (however due to its busyness it was more of a jump off and not be able to get back on bus) so we booked all our stops in advice as we did not have a huge amount of time. People on our bus were ok not big drinkers which was unusual for a trip of this nature. There was one other couple on the bus from Brighton who we nicknamed the wingers for obvious reasons, unfortuntally because we were also a couple we were quite often put with them. We spent the first night in Kalbari would have liked more time here but tight schedule would not allow this. Next day was good as we went into the National park for a few walks (nothing to strenuous) and some lovely views obviously the wingers moaned about the bus stopping again and did they have to get off!!. Next day was Monkey Mia to see the dolphins Billy was chosen (along with the kids) to feed them. Later that day we drove to Coral bay a place where we were stopping for 5 days.

Coral bay was fantastic amazing snorking and diving. Saw a leopard shark, turtles, stingrays and loads of amazing fish and corals. It was basically sitting on the beach everyday with breaks for snorking and lunch - a well earned break. Moved on to Exmouth for more of the same and also did the whale shark tour which we were unfortunate not to see them. Decided to bail out on the Easyrider to give us a few extra days in Broome before we meet up with Elaine, Andy, Michelle and James.

Broome was great, really chilled out and much prettier than I had imagined. Again we had about 5 days here and saw some of the best sunsets ever on Cable beach and took some excellent photos of the camel rides that are very popular at that time of day. We were lucky to arrive in Broome on the 2nd night of the Staircase to the moon. As this only happens for 3 nights 6 times a year we timed it well. It was pretty amazing, we went to the Mangrove Resort a posh hotel who put seating out so that you could watch the moon rise over the mangroves to create the weird staircase affect with the light. Went out for drinks after with a few of the people we had met up the west coast. The next night we went to the Sun Movies Picture house which is the worlds oldest outdoor picture house and a great place to watch a film. Then we just chilled out for the rest of our time in Broome looked forward to the arrival of the others.
