Ok, I've been slacking again. But since I woke up kind of early this Sunday morning (Saturday afternoon back home), I'll try to catch us up.

Friday, we caught the bus and headed back to downtown Sydney. Speaking of the bus, I'm proud to say that we are getting so good at it that I actually helped an Aussie with which buses to take to go to Cremorne. I was running off the bus numbers from memory like I was a local. No worries mate! ;) Ok back on subject at hand. Instead of taking the bus all the way to Wynyard station, like we usually do, we got off one station early to have a shorter walk to Circular Quay, The Rocks, and the opera house.

We first stopped to have breakfast at a place in The Rocks that seemed to be popular for locals to grab a bite before work. I saw the word "porridge" on the menu and of course had to try it (topped with bannanas). Oh wow! That was so good! I've never had oatmeal with the whole oats in it. I was full for a few hours which is something oatmeal usually doesn't do for me.

We walked around the historic "Rocks" for a little bit and then walked through Circular Quay to get to the opera house. When you walk up to the Opera House, the first thing you notice (after being in awe of the structure itself) is the what seemes like a million stairs. Mom didn't want any part of it so she found an elevator. But I wanted to say "I walked up the stairs to the Sydney Opera House" Ok, are you ready? I walked up the stairs to the Sydney Opera House. Yes it was awsome to be walking around and in that structure.

Once we got our fill of being at one with the Opera House, we went back to circular Quay to catch the ferry to manly Beach. If I have time, I'll include some photos of the Opera House and the beach. From the train station, we walked through a few blocks of shops to get to the beach. I'm not sure how the photos came out but hopefully they can speak for themselves.

We couldn't stay out too long since Mom was going out square dancing that night and needed time to rest and get ready (she has an online friend in Perth who contacted one of her fellow square dancers in this area who was picking her near the hotel). After I had dinner with Mom and waited with her until her ride arrived, I walked back and while waiting at a cross walk I could see through the window across the street: BEHOLD! (there was a bright light and angels singing, ok not really but just give me my moment :p) American football! NFL! So I stopped in there and caught the Steeler-Titans game in the 2nd quarter. It was obviously taped since it was 4 or 5 am in the eastern USA at the time. But it was fun to sit  back with an Australian beer and watch. Or at least until a big Australian rugby league playoff game was coming on and all the tv's were changed. So I said "oh well" and figured I would watch and try to figure it out while I finish my beer. A guy, who was approximately in his early to mid 50's (he kind looked like a combination of David Bowie and that guy in Alien who had a baby alien break out of his stomach, don't let that distract you from the story, look it up later), asked me if the other half of my table was taken and if anything happened in the game yet. I told him I'm not sure, I'm American, and don't really know what's going on. He thought that was so cool of where I was from and seemed happy to explain the game and appeared impressed at the questions I was asking. Not so much that I was asking questions about the rules but some of the questions were more geared toward game strategy and that I was thinking that way. He ended up buying me 2 more beers (he wanted me to try the other Aussie beers, I tried to return the favor after the 2nd drink and buy the next round but he wouldn't have it). I really started watching the rugby game and enjoying it and even went back the next night to watch some other playoff games (no that same guy wasn't there and I had to buy my own beer. uff! :p).
