Despite pretty solid rainfall, we had an interesting 2 dys in Vilnius. The churches and old town were beautiful. The city is clean and generally charming... with modern skyscrapers in the business district, nicely separated from the old town. The shocking part of our stay was visit to a holocaust museum which described the horrors of 1941 for the Jews. Something like 20,000 were grotesquely massacred, first by Lithuanian partisans under the urging of the Germans, and then by the Germans themselves when the partisans turned on them. The cold blooded determination of the Germans is indicated in the attched documents, describing the precise number of "Jews, jewesses and jewish children? slaughtered each day. Note the horrific numbers if you can see them closely.
