"8 Killings Add to Juarez Week of Violence" [today's headline, refers to Friday's death toll (just one day)]
Everyday the paper recounts a new horror across the international bridge. I already was shaken by the women's murders...but this year the drug cartels display power by killing police administrators in broad daylight...Al Capone-style. Yes, since Dec 1, 2006 more than 3,800 Mexican murders relate to drug violence, says today's El Paso Times--and over 160 in Juarez since Jan. 1.
Even in tiny Palomas, Mexico--dirt-road small town 90 miles west--40 murders this year caused all the police force to quit their jobs with the police chief pleading for asylum from U.S. ICE officials, leaving the town "out of control" according to the neighboring Columbus, NM mayor.
Need I say it? This is serious, folks.
