Palm Sunday Mass at Annunciation House was particularly touching. We had the largest group in our brief history helping there on Sundays: maybe about 25-30 people. Maybe because all participants receive palms, more people came than usual. The palms were specially braided ones--perhaps from local branches--made in Ciudad Juarez. They were unique in my experience and quite lovely.

Good Friday: the Living Way of the Cross walked 2 miles through the streets of the neighborhood just north of downtown, beginning at the Cathedral of St. Patrick's. The church building itself was traditional and, to me, rather unremarkable except for the very shiny green ceramic or enameled tiled roof.

I got to join the group of woman at Centro Mujeres de la Esperanza for the station Jesus Meets the Women, which focused on the women of Juarez, Mexico--many issues: violence against women, domestic violence, maquila factory work (sweatshop), etc. The news photographer took my name and photo as I steadied the poster there against the wind, and I felt honored to be there symbolically standing for the women of Juarez.
