Farmworkers' March Honors Cesar Chavez

We were so impressed with yesterday's Farmworkers' Tour that we decided to join their march honoring Cesar Chavez today instead of touring Las Cruces, NM. This march made a few points: 1) to demand the U.S. government to return to the Braceros [Mexican guest workers from past years] the wages withheld from their pay, 2) to include the people's agenda in any renovations done in El Segundo Barrio, 3) to honor Cesar and the farmworkers. Those "in the know" wore black and red, the Farmworkers' colors.

We marched and chanted from Chamizal Park for a few miles through the streets with police escort to the Farmworkers' Hall, where a program ensued. After the Aztec blessing and dances, we left--before the speeches really got rolling. Looked like there would be live music ahead, too. But after that hike, we were ready to relax.
