Beautiful day: 70 degrees, clear and low humidity. Has been a bit of rain each day, sometimes heavy, since this is the rainy time. Rain helps clean things up, but the streets are still stinky in places and garbage is often sitting around on corners. Like many poor countries, it´s best to watch where you walk.
We´re living in a family-run hotel & paying $10/night. Having looked around, we think we´ll stay here and negotiate a discount for our long-term business. I´m enjoying the cable TV (somewhat to Paul´s dismay). There are generally 5 movies on at any given time, so we can always find something interesting to watch at night.
Food is amazingly cheap. Our friend Sue took us to a buffet where white-jacketed waiters brought us soup, bread, a salad bar, chicken or beef entre, with custard for dessert and a refreshing drink. All for $1.50!
