Thurs 11th: In Chiang Rai how could Sarah not choose the hostel that also doubles as a bakery the down side being the ridiculously low door that Bill really should have remebered about far sooner than he did.
Touring the Wats most importanlty Wat Phra Kaew the previous home of the Emerald Buddha ( Now housed in Bangkok) now home to a proud but importantly slightly shorter we think about 0.1 to 0.3cm, copy. At one point Bill and Sarah split up to take in the peaceful vibe, only for Bill to round the edge of a Chedi ( Religous spire) to be faced by five dogs rather resmbling a pack in formation, scared like hell he backed away to be pursued by growling safe he found Sarah again heart still racing. Bill is not a fan of dogs.
Chiang Rai night market is the perfect setting for spring rolls and old acquaintances, as we unexpectedly bump into a couple we met back in Singapore. Chatting away the night ends with rotis on the way back to the hostel.
Friday 12th: Bus back to Chiang Mai, a small cramped little thing, it's bags on laps, only to be released from bag person proximity by a kindly monk who offered to guard our bags on the back seat, there really is nothing better than a guard monk.
Back in Chiang Mai, we head back to Lanna Discovery and get an early night to be ready bright and bushy for a weeks volunteering at an Elephant Nature Park.
