As you may have noticed, this trip was very different from our last few. Our last major trip, Europe 2005, was easier going and afforded us more free time to blog about our experiences and misadventures. By the time we made it back to our hotel each night during this trip, we were completely zonked and barely had the energy to check our email let alone dazzle you with witty commentary and anecdotes about our day. So, we do apologize for the seeming lack of interesting information. Still, while more structured and fast moving, this trip had some amazing blessings for us each day we were there. God seemed to provide small pictures of His Word each day in simple things. For example, we saw a shepherd outside of Bethlehem tending his flock of sheep in the hills. While we were watching, one of the sheep wandered off, and true to Jesus' Word, the shepherd left the rest and went after the missing one. When he returned with it, he called to the rest of the sheep, who recognized his voice, and they followed after him. While the people of Jesus' day understood this easily, it was a wonderful gift to have the picture so completely displayed for us. It was moments such as this that truly brought special meaning to the trip. From floating in the dead sea to waiting for hours on the Israeli/Jordanian border trying to gain access to Jordan to nearly being trampled by the literal flood of thousands of Palestinians squeezing into the Arab quarter after prayers, this trip had some wonderfully unique experiences that we will always treasure. We both have the sense that this is not the last trip to Israel we will make, so until next time...
