This is one of the most exotic and photographed tribes in Namibia. We are visiting the village, there were only women and children, the men are out with the cattle. Himba women cover their bodies in a paste made from red ochre, sweet smelling herbs, and butterfat. The paste also helps hold together the braids in their hair. They wear very few clothes. Women can have only one child from one man. They take out the 4 bottom front teeth for all girls (strange idea of beauty). I saw a 12 year old girl who was breastfeeding her 6 month old baby!
