Hobart to Freycinet Lodge
This morning was a leisurely breakfast at Gattonside before we headed south to Tahune the weather was overcast this morning so it would be a good day for travelling we arrived at the air walk early as we wanted to enjoy the views and the walk over the two suspension bridges.
The Tahune Air Walk, is a suspended tree canopy walk which takes your breath away as well as offering amazing views of the Tahune State forest, nearby Hartz Mountains and the Huon and Picton rivers.
The completion of the walk was heralded by coffee and scones at the Air Walk restaurant, it was then time to point the car north and head for Freycinet peninsula and National Park and all of the scenic beach side towns along the way.
That hard part of driving to a set destination is the great places in between as time becomes limited you cannot stop at all of them and the ones you miss are always highlighted by other travellers as the best place to visit.
On arrival at Freycinet Lodge the formalities of checking in were completed promptly and the haven of our room was sought.
I have read both good and bad reports on the lodge and my comments will be based on our stay of which I can only highly recommend the accommodation, restaurant, service and scenic vista including one of the best sunsets I have seen.
