For the second time now we went to the province of Canta to support the schools of 12 small towns. For each student we prepared a backpack filled with the complete school material he or she is going to use during the schoolyear. We packed almost 300 backpacks in total.
These towns are all high up at around 3000 meters. Most habitants are farmers and make their living out of selling their products on local markets or even in Lima. Unfortunately the economic situation of most families is very difficult. They mostly live in small houses with just one room where the whole family sleeps, eats, cooks, etc. Despite their difficult situation the children are always smiling and even more when we brought a backpack for each one...
