Best place yet in South America. Set high in the Andes and surrounded by green mountains Cuzco is a smashing example of Spanish colonialism at its best. The town square is a magic with a huge ornate cathedral thing to one side and cloistered shops to the others. This sets the tone for the rest of the town and you can just about lose youself in some of the narrow cobbled backstreets. Again the locals are lovely but the weather here was rubbish. At above 3000m the climate is wintery but when it rains its still somehow feels like a tropical monsoon type rain. Anyway, Jill got a cold and we both stomach problems which restricted our movements (other than those linked to our bowels). The shopping here is good too, and cheap. You can get all the jewelry, rugs, bags, t-shirts, gloves and scarves you could wish for providing you like zig-zag patterns or lamas, so if youre expecting a present from us when we return you now know what to expect.
