Our first day is a sailing day so we have plenty of time to explore. The first decision of the day was where to have breakfast. Minnie wanted fixed dining but I guessed that was because the dining room was two decks below us whereas the buffet dining room is on deck 14, that's 12 flights of stairs above us ( we are not allowing ourselves to use the lifts while on board). I'm already feeling a little weary of dining with randoms so I convinced Minnie that we needed the exercise and we set off for the buffet. Unfortunately the dining room was full and we found ourselves sharing a table with some more randoms. I must say that the people that we have met so far have all been very friendly and have contributed to very pleasant and enjoyable dining experiences but I can already sense the pattern of conversation falling into four topics; home, family , the missing Malaysian airliner and whether Wakefield Trinity can avoid relegation from the Superleague.

It was a little cloudy but pleasantly warm so there was no problem laying out on the sun beds on deck which is where we spent most of the day. Our only break was at 2pm when we went to watch the art auction. Actually we went for the free champagne and had to sit through the auction but hey, it wasn't long before we were back on the sun beds.

We didn't have to wait long for our next champagne. It was our first formal night and a chance to meet the Captain and his senior officers. There is always plenty of champagne flowing at these events and this was no different as they had set up a massive champagne fountain in the Atrium. We quickly worked out that there were drinks waiters working on each deck in the atrium so we were up and down between decks quicker than you could say "bottoms up". By the time we got to dinner we didn't care who we were sat with, we would pretend to be Eastern Europeans with a speech impediment.

Looks like you were enjoying the bubbly. If you ended up with a headache afterwards you were drinking the wrong stuff - that's called champain!
