To be completely honest I had absolutly no idea what to expect from Denmark. This is probebly why I now would describe it as one of europes most beatiful countries. I flew Sterling from Stockholm to Kopenhagen were I was picked up by my very good old friend Thorbjorn. We met when thorbjorn spent one year in my class as a danish exchange student. I had promised him I would come and visit and here I was. Although he got a bit bigger he was still the friendly guy I rememberd from back in SA.

I spent the first day lazing around the house and sleeping late as I was very tired form that last 2 weeks of exitement. I went swimming with thorbjorn but soon understoud that not even with me wearing flippers would i be able to keep up.

The next day i desided to go explore Copenhagen and bought a very handy CHP card that gave me free entance to all museams and transport. First I visited the Liouseiana modern art museam where I saw the most amazing Cezanne and Giometti exibition. It msut be one of the best modern art museams in the world and is set in a mezmorizing landscape outside of cph.  I especially loved seeing Duchamp s L.H.O.O.Q. as I had studyed it for my final school exam. They even had South African works like of Kentrigh.

I was in a hurry to see as many museams as possible to make fully use of my CPH card. I went to the Rosenborg slot where the king lived in the summers and saw the Crown juwels.  I now had about 30 min to see as much as possible of the 100 room NY carlsburg glypotek art museam that was filled with everything from Rodin , delacrouix , guigaun , vangogh  to ancient egyptian and roman sculpture including a very interesting exibition called elektroshock.

I was now already 10 min late , as I had to meet Thorbjorn at the MC . I had my lunch ( 4 cheeseburgers ) and then we went to buy my EUrail pass. This would enable me to see as much as possible of europe at an affordable price and make it very flex. As I buy the ticket I see teh map of euope in the backgroun and imagin going to spain , france , italy and germany all within teh next 2 monthes.

Lastly I went up the round tower having a spectacular view over Copenhagen city. Tonight I would go to a Danish Housparty with Thorbjorns class. It was quite an experiance and everybody got rather drunk. I had my first body tequila and remember sinking deep into my bed when we got home . All in all a great night i ll never forget.

The next morning I woke early to go see the other side of town. We met up with a German exchange student and made our way to Christiana . The hippies had proclamed this area as an independant state in the 70 s and you still there influence when looking at the wall drawings and all the half drunk half stoned people we saw at 10 in the morning. I had a cheap beer . There was no foto taking aloud in christiana maily because of the drugdealers. They have there own parlement make demokratic desisions . I liked the fact that they stood up for what they believe in and are fighting gowerments plans to break it all down.

I bit further along the coust we went to hans christan andersons littel mermaid. It wa srather littel but very nice lite the danish would say.

On my lats night in copehagen thorbjorn and i made the most deleciouse pizzas and he made a south african specialty called peppermint crisp tert for dessert . We sang proudly south african and old athletic cheers followed by falling asleep to a monty pathon movie called the meaning of life.

Tommorow I will leave to Arhus Denmarks second largest city where fromwhere i will fly to Barcelona on tuesday.  I had an amazing time in Copenhagen and would like to thank Thorbjorn and hi sfamily for there hospitality. Till the next thing that happens ..cheers !
