Finally made it Sydney on Sunday afternoon and am SOOO relieved to have made it this far! Its a big city folks, and strangely reminds me of err... Bristol?! DON'T ASK! It just does!
Anyway - Big is the word over here. Sydney is host to around 4½ million Aussies and is the same size as London. A bit of a boring pub fact that Cairns is mistaken by travellers as a small diddy city (or town), with just 8 blocks of traffic. DOH INDEED, its 6 times the size of London if anyone could be arsed to check the phone book. Its got the barrier reef, Daintree Cape Tribulation rain forests to its name, mountain ranges.
Yeah Sydney is big enough to wonder round aimlesly and not actually get anywhere half decent. But it brings me to the end of my first leg of this world trip :-)
Yesterday I was going round like an illegal immigrant trying to find work, marry a local or sell my clothes to get cash. Then on my travels my mobile went bezerk! I had 4 interviews yesterday and have cunningly landed my first (pants) job out here this weekend. Backbreaking work setting up PC's and getting my hands dirty in IT.
Fingers crossed for more work round the corner with a decent support role. Then its on to renting a flat out here and sitting on that egg like a big fat CHICKEN!
So anyway - this brings me to my Half Time folks. I've travelled over 22,000 kilometers already and spent 2 clear days in the air on flights plus 12 hours waiting in airports, about 50 quid on bog roll, 500 quid on beer alone (that's alot of beer except if you're in Paris - right Lundy?!), etc etc.
BIG THANKS to everyone for tuning in to this website - and I'm going to call it a day till the second half kicks off on the 5th March 2007. I'll be going to Chili, Rio de Janeiro, Dallas, Vancouver, Seattle, Chicago, Toronto and finish in New York in May.
Will be putting pictures up online of Sydney like some demonic snapper. I've also got to write an article for the Californian press about Northern India. This site has been headhunted! So yeah - a bit of glamour there too. There's people ALL over the world that reads your comments on this site (not just mine folks)!!
Cheers to P&G for putting up with the language and swearing. Thanks to Mum for her 'Jims fanclub section on 'Comments'. Hehe. Cheers to the guys back home for keeping the morale up, Brandon and Rick (Canadian Navy - meeting you guys soon for beers), and of COURSE PANNI!! I've got Panni coming over to Sydney this coming January to keep me company for two weeks. I can't wait.
Lots of love to you all. Take Care.
