Where I stayed
Sea Otter House
Visit to Monterey Aquarium.
We planned for a few hours here and spent the day as it was so good. The were so many sea creatures to see and touch and learn about. We watched the fish being fed in the Open Sea section. There were large schools of sardines, tuna fish, turtles and a weird looking sunfish all being fed from sea level as we watched from below. It was pretty cool.
In the aquarium we also saw some octopus, some sea snakes and sharkes. My favourite thing were the snakes. Mum and Dad loved the sea horses. They were really small and clever how they held onto things with their tails.
There were some really cool ones called Leaf Dragon sea horses who were bright yellow and really hard to spot in the seaweed.
We also saw penguins being fed.

After the penguins I went outside and saw some children scoober diving in the sea and asked about doing it. In the end I did do it.I got to wear a really cool suit that kept all my clothes dry this was called a dry suit.I also got to wear an air tank, a regulater and some gloves. When I got in the water it felt quite cold but I got used to it .I saw lots of things in the water- such as starfish which I held, monkey faced eels that I fed with algae, sea crabs, limpets and sea urchins which I touched- not too prickly and they try to hug your fingers!
FUN FACTS
Did you know
That a star fish does not just eat with it's mouth. It spits it's stomach out, eats the food with the stomach, digests the food and then sucks the stomach back in. Nice!
A hermit crab does not grow a shell but finds an empty one in the sea to use.

We are staying in a cottage on the egde of Monterey very near the beach. From the pavement you can see Harbour Seals lying about on the rocks and Sea Otters playing in the surf with their pups. They lie on their backs with their pups on their tummies just relaxing. It is all lovely.
Plus there is another hot tub here!! [Hot tubs are coming to Sheen !]

Still loving reading about your adventures!
Are you ever coming home?
We love the photo of you with the giant starfish, Millie! You are very brave to scuba dive-the first time I tried it (aged 22!) it freaked me out! You have both done such amazing things on this trip...and we've still got Disney, turtles & ziplining to read about-tell Dad to get a move on and post those blogs! I'm looking forward to you coming home soon but I bet you're not xx
