On Saturday we went in the car to another beach, called south beach to see some bears. We had to walk through the rain forest to get to this beach. We kept expecting a bear to appear! We did not see a bear but we did see a eagle( we thought it was a Sea eagle because it had a White head) attacking a black birds baby in a nest ,the black bird and the eagle started to fight for a long time!!!

This was a great beach for playing on, there were lots of rocks to climb. Oliver was like an explorer because he climbed all the rocks as fast as he could. We had picnic but still no bears.
We also stopped at long beach which is very very long, and wide with large waves for surfing.
We saw some more whales off the beach spouting water but it was hard to tell what type they were. We were told they were grey whales. There were also lots of harbour porpoises swimming in the surf. These are like dolphins but very shy of people.

We also went off to do a short inland walk in the rainforest and learnt about the life of trees. We saw some massive trees with trunks that were 6meters wide. You could very easily get lost in the forest if you went off the track as it was so overgrown. We heard lots of strange noises but again the bears were hiding from us.

Dear Millie and Oliver

Great descriptions so far guys. You sound as though you are getting to see some amazing things, I am particularly jealous of the whale watching. Have you seen a bear yet ?

Dear Nikki and Dan

What is Candian wine like ? Have you packed enough ? Missing you all already.
