Last Sunday, Jacqui and I left for St. Felicien, Quebec.  It's another small town in northern Quebec...and it's on the edge of nowhere.  My road map of Quebec stops just after St. Felicien, even though there is still a fair amount of the state to go.  There's just nothing else there.  Which means that in the winter this place is inundated with snowmobilers from the U.S.  This is a mill town with a good winter tourism industry too.  Every hotel and motel worth it's salt has a locked, surveilled snowmobile parking area.  Now, St. Felicien is beautifully situated on Lac-du-Saint-Jean and around a river, can't remember the name of it.  If it wasn't so damn cold most of the year, they'd have an excellent summer tourism.  But this was the slow season.  So the hotel rates were really low and the only people around were locals.  Most of the locals do speak some English though.  And pretty much anyplace that serves tourists (hotels, restaraunts, McDonald's) will have at least one person who is very fluent.

We didn't have very much free time while we were up there.  There is a zoo that we were going to try to visit and some fromageries (cheese makers) that we thought would be a tasty experience.  But alas, I ended up working into the night each night.  The only places that we ate were Tim Hortons, McDonald's, and Mike's(a Quebecoise chain similar to Applebee's)  So for once, I have no good pictures of the town.  Sorry
