Made it through the Ukrainian border in pretty good time, then it was the fun one.  In my head, I had all sorts of preconceived notions about the Russian border guards.  And once we were done with immigration, I thought we were coming through unscathed.  Then we had to deal with customs and getting the right declarations for the car.  This took way longer than I thought it was going to.  But the guards were very friendly and helpful, and they helped me to the right window to purchase our insurance for the car.  Then as we were walking back to the car and they were searching it (pretty thoroughly), the guard asks me if we have any liquor or money. Now luckily we had hidden all the money on Lauren and we had poured our liquor into Sprite and Coke bottles.  So I could look at him with a straight face and say no.  Then he asks if I have "a little present for me, maybe small bottle of liquor, or beer"...and I tell him no.  So he starts rummaging again through our car.  Then I remember I have a bottle of Romanian beer sitting in the back food tray.  So I grab that and offer it to him.  Now this bottle of beer has been sitting in the sun in our back window since our first day in Romania...it is now thoroughly skunked and wouldn't be drunk by any of us.  But the guard looks at it, looks pretty happy and tells us to go on our way.  Now that's my kind of bribe to pay ;)

By the time all 3 cars are through the border, its almost 11pm, so once again we just pulled off to the side of the road and slept.
