Where I stayed
Camping outside Klenova Castle
Headed to Nurnerg where we stopped off for ATM and found a Weinerwald…which is apparently Lauren's favorite restaurant in Germany (she lived here for a good while) because she shrieked out "OMG IT’S A WEINERWALD!" at the top of her lungs when she saw it. It was tasty food… but I don’t think I’ll be yelling it out as enthusiastically as she was.
We also made a small detour to the town she lived in while she was here. It used to have a bunch of American military families living there, but now her house is owned by a regular German…who didn’t seem too amused to find a bedraggled set of Americans in a car flying a pirate flag outside of her house...
Then it was on to the Czech Republic for the Czech Out Party at Klenova Castle. The Adventurists had rented out a castle in the hills of Czech for us to camp and party at…very cool. The castle was decked out with several sound stages with bands, dance floors, the works, several bars were serving free gin-based drinks, and there was a grill serving traditional Czech food. The only problem was that you were only supposed to get 2 free gin drinks, by way of little drink vouchers. But at one point, I saw one of the gypsy girls crawl up over the top of the bar, reach down, and grab a fistful of vouchers. So I followed her a little ways away and stopped her with a knowing look in my eye and said, “So Gypsy, I’ve come for some of your stolen treasures!” Well, maybe I didn’t say it like that, but I did at least get a small handful of vouchers to get drinks for me and 15 of my new friends!
The camping situation outside the castle made it quite hilarious with all the drunken people stumbling up the hill during the night. We were right at the top of the hill and at least one person slept where they fell after not being able to find his tent. And Mike and Lauren tried to help a guy find his tent in the middle of the night and the only information they could get out of him was “It’s green….I think”. How can that not end as a good night?
