Where I stayed
Silja m/s Symphony

I drank a wee bit too much with the Finns the night before (I was drinking Port though, not vodka) and I ended up sleeping right through my alarm and missing breakfast. We were already in the port in Stockholm by the time I woke up.  I barely made the bus that some of my friends were on to go into downtown.  Let's just say that only one person in our little group was spry and sprite this morning so we were all walking around very very slowly.  I did get to see the Swedish changing of the guard, which was quite impressive, and I’ve got video of the royal band playing. Then we toured the Swedish palace, all the royal apartments, the Tre Kroner museum, and in the Treasury, we got to see the crown jewels.  The British crown jewels are much more impressive though.

We did stop to have lunch in the old city…and Stockholm truly is the most expensive city in Scandinavia.  Lunch, consisting of a hot chocolate, a piece of pie, and a not very good sandwich was $24 USD.  I will go back to Sweden again with Jacqui, but I don’t know if we’ll stay very long.  I did get to take some impressive photos of leaving Stockholm so enjoy!

For the cruise, we were on the Silja Cruise Lines m/s Symphony.  This was my first "real" cruise, and a little bit of a preparation for the 16-day cruise that Jacqui and I have booked.  I’m gonna have to make sure to really control myself if the food on our ship (the Holland America m/s Noordstrom) is anywhere as good as the food on the Symphony.  At the buffet I went to tonight, they had a taco bar, fresh cut roast, excellent salad trimmings, and more desserts than I really should have tried in one night.  After all that food, and because of the night before, I turned in early and slept all the way until 8am the next morning.
