Where I stayed
It's not very often that I recommend NOT going to a restaurant. Generally, if a places doesn't excite me or only barely just meets my expectations, I don't even bother to mention it. But tonight, well, tonight one of the restaurants and waiters (Junior) managed to screw me over...and they KNOW I'm not a tourist and that I spend an extraordinary amount of time in their town by myself and with other people. I put a LOT of cash into Porto Seguro with drinks and food.
Tonight, I had promised one of the waiters that knows my name and recognizes me from down the Passarela that I'd eat at his restaurant, the Forte do Porto. I had ordered a Picanha Grelhada for R$42, which is a little pricey to begin with, but it came with rice, farofa, and I had asked him to switch mandioca for the salad. What came out was less meat than I'd get for R$9 at Espetu's in Tres Lagoas, mandioca that was terrible, what might pass as a salad, and the highlight of the meal, the white rice and farofa. Now you might say, well Porto Seguro is a tourist town, the prices are just higher than in Tres Lagoas...but yesterday, I ordered the same thing from Divinos Prazeres next door and the food was awesome, and it was R$10 cheaper. The picanha was cooked to order and there was almost too much to eat. Oh and to top it all off, he charged me for the mandioca that wasn't good and was supposed to be a substitution.
I paid the bill, but I told him that I will never eat there again... Junior didn't seem to really care. But he's going to care a lot when I spend 2+ months in Porto Seguro again at the end of this year and beginning of next and I don't ever eat there or bring any coworkers there and we end up eating next door.
And the video is for Jacqui...
