We are so excited to be Going Home! Planning and waiting all day we leave slightly early from the office as we are expecting the worst traffic we've seen yet in Manila. It's Friday, where everyone in the city normally commutes to the provinces to go home for the weekend. It's the weekend before the holiday where on top of being Friday we have people coming into and out of the Philipinnes for the holiday. Our driver, Roy, says that this weekend in Manila - "every taxi and car available to be rented, is rented well in advance of the holiday." Well traffic as predicted was considerably busy, but Roy, true to his skill made it seem minor as we still arrived at the airport within 45 minutes of leaving our destination.

A minor shock waited for us as we entered the airport... we had to Pay! Pay to actually USE the airport, before even going through security... good thing we had a few Pesos left. Through security, we declared our Christmas purchases and moved on to check our bags... so far the whole event is not so terrible. We board the plane, we fly 16 hours to LA... where we are too late, as planned, to catch the next flight and we stay at a hotel for the night. I must say. The hot shower, with water pressure, and hot water that doesn't run out... and a bed that felt like sleeping on clouds rather than the box spring I've been sleeping on, should have been a sign that it was too good to be true.
