Ok let me first state that traffic here is nothing, let me repeat NOTHING, like driving in the states.  Which is why we aren't driving.  Yes they actually do drive on the same side and direction as we do, BUT that's were the similarities end.

The crazy thing is that they have the same "traffic laws" as we do in the states, however here they appear to be more "guidelines actually" than real laws.  Yes the police can arrest you, ticket you, or even harass you about your driving here, but it's kind of like spitting into a monsoon.  Who'd notice?

There are three lanes on the expressway, but "you can fit 5 cars side by side" so what are the white stripes for??!!  Really!  They drive at high speed within inches, both front and back - side to side, of each other.  You could literally reach out and tap the windows of the cars next you with out putting your arm out past the elbow...

Add to that small motorcycles, "tricycles", and Jeepnies swerving in out and out and stopping at any random point, and you have just about as close to organized chaos as you can get.

OH! and then there's the people walking down the streets between the cars... IN TRAFFIC!
Yeah.. they just jump out of the cab as it stops in traffic and start walking... people here must have three legs to drive I swear!

Today our cab broke down in the middle of the express way and he just jumped out right in the middle of it all, threw open the hood and started working on the cab engine.  Now we only had piece of mind to film some of it on video, so I apologize for the big download.  However I'm still to this day amazed that he pulled the fuel line off and started sucking gas through it, into his mouth and then spit it directly into the carborator!  Transfering enough gas into the main, he then jumped back into the cab, rev'd the engine and moved a little further down the express way, only to stall and repeat process.... for THREE HOURS... you can't imagine... I was there and I'm still not sure I can.
