Karen, Cathy and I hopped onto the train to get to Figueres at Passeig de Gracia.  Almost 2 hours later on the local, we arrived at Salvador Dali's hometown.  Weather was like Sunday's excursion...rainy and wet.  What would have been a really nice day to hang out in a small village on labour day was rained out.  The town had prepared festivities and lots of crafts and market stalls but it was pretty hard going in the wet.

Figueres is located north east of Barcelona and close to the French border.  Even though we didn't have a map, you can't get lost as the museum is signposted all the way from the train station until you find it.  Stopped for a quick lunch and more cups of espresso, we were ready for the museum.  Sure enough, Dali was as quirky as ever especially with his rendition of what looked like "Oscar" opulence and excess, although there were some paintings in there that surprised me (including the photo of the Barcelona lady on my welcome page).

Caught the express train (Catalunya Express) all the way back to Barcelona.  Karen and Cathy were kind enough to indulge my request to have paella (since I not had a chance to eat this yet) and we went back to the same neighbourhood restaurant I went to yesterday.  And it was good, polished down with a jug of sangria.  (If you stay at Ana's, they can give you the location of the restaurant as I forgot to pick up a business card).  Great way to end my last night in this fabulous city...I hope this won't be my last visit.
