Had an absolute blast today White Water Rafting on the Tully River today.  There was a total of 44 rapids with at least 15 of them being level 4  (highest rating is 6).  We were dressed to the nines in our shorts and bathing suits, then on top of that we Emma and I donned thermal tops due to the temperature of the water then on top of that we had splash tops.  Oops, almost forgot to tell you about the fashion accessories of lifejackets and helmets.  We started just below a dam which controls the water on the river, evidently that morning they'd let an extra large amount of water through, so the river was running high.  The first set of rapids was a Grade 2 level and it was just to get us used to what we had to do, which is basically whatever the guide at the back of the boat says.  Paddle hard, stop, lean right - we did all the moves.  Ben and Emma were in the front of the boat so they were hit with the most waves but of course they loved it.  We had purchased a waterproof camera for this event so unfortunately we don't have any photo's to share until we can get the camera develop and then the pictures scanned in.   In the morning we travelled about 5km in the morning through about 18 rapids and after stopping for burgers for lunch and hot tea we continued on through 7kms more and 26 rapids.   The guides were a lot of fun so we had lots of water fights and at one point one of the other guides hooked Emma's life jacket and pulled her right out of the boat.  What a hoot!  The kids have decided this is one of the events of the trip, so we are really glad we made the last minute decision to go.  Needless to say that night we were all in bed by 8:30pm.
