Where I stayed
Cochabamba is not the most touristy town in Bolivia but it was a good stopover for us between Sucre and La Paz and we certainly did not want to go to Santa Cruz as they are experiencing a Dengue fever outbreak there.
It is a nice city though, Steve and I walked through a huge car market, where they were selling some American cars for pretty cheap prices. Mike and Jo got to go to the Teleferico (the tramway in Spanish) as they are in love with trams dating back to their Jasper days. Other than that, we just walked around markets, played cards and relaxed.
As it has been about a month since I have commented on our Spanish, I thought this would be a good opportunity. We are definately picking up bits and pieces daily and have come along way since our first days in Quito. Our strenghts are with any menu item, as we have to use those daily. That being said, there are still incidents: for example, Steve thought he ordered a sandwich for lunch in Sucre and ended up with a full pasta dinner. But generally speaking, we do quite well with food stuff. We are also getting much better at asking questions, such as how much? how long? when do we leave/arrive?
I think 6 months would be a sufficient amount of time in South America, along with a few courses here and there to pick up the language. We quiz each other most days on new words, but still have lots to learn.
We are headed to the big Bolivian capital of La Paz next, which is quite exicting. And Machu Pichu is just around the corner!!!
I have also added up our bus hours, and we are at 110 hours, with many more to go!
