In the eyes of a ranger,
The unsuspecting stranger,
Had better know the truth of wrong from right,

'Cause the eyes of a ranger are upon you,
Any wrong you do, he's gonna see,

Whenleaving New Orleans I was at a Fork in the road situation. I had to decide what path to take. I knew I wanted to see Memphis and I had been invited to go spend the next weekend after in Virginia. So i thought thats perfect I can do a loopy thing and go to texas as well to kill a day.

Now theres some things you all may not know that I have been doing secretly. I have been keeping a secret sort of log book of things to do and buy when i get home. Because I know when I go home that Im just going to sit there and go Im bored and sit of msn or something.
Ive realised i want to be more active when i get home and actually do stuff. So i keep a list of things to do- like:

            - Go to the national park with joel, johno and others....

            - Get Motorbike License

           -  Buy an old beetle or 1965 Ford Mustang (depending on budget)

            - Buy an imitation Australian cricket jersey with HARDEN printed on the back

            - Build a cupboard

            - Bake a Cake

Interesting things like this you see. But i also keep a list of dvds to buy. Things i think of randomly, but when i get to kmart i forget. Things like WesAnderson movies. Movies like Bottle Rocket. Thus, bringing us to the purpose of my trip to texas.

Bottle Rocket was filmed in Fort Worth - Texas. I also read that that Fort Worth is where all the rodeos are. So i thought perfect. I will go see a rodeo. I got the bus 4pm bus that was scheduled to arrive in Fort Worth at 5:20am. Greyhound never ever runs out of space for a bus. If a bus is full. It simply runs a second bus. Therefore. I got on a bus with 5 other people. Sweet i thought. That was until the bus load of other people broke down and everyone got crammed into my bus. It seemed like all the rejects got put on my bus. I overheard at a layover that one guy just got out of jail. Another lady had cuts all over her arms from an abusive bf that she was running away from. A couple was having a domestic on the bus, and another two people were almost in a punch up over a secret bottle of alcohol (contraband on the bus). This caused our driver to pull over the bus and threaten to drive the bus into on coming traffic, because all the stress is going to cause her to do that and therefore she will never see her two baby girls again. If your on a greyhound, its going to happen! haha

Ive learnt just to laugh at all the crazies on the greyhound now. Even the people that work there. Almost every layover I hear the sound of the people at the counter call for security and someone going nuts at the counter. The baggage people are a class in their own. They just throw your gear in the compartments. Then when you go to pick it up, they have these imaginary lines that your not allowed to cross. But if you do cross you get a "Get the F*ck back behind the pole" or something like that. No sorry could you please move away. Im telling yah. Greyhound is the place to be! The real America! I'm half kicking myself that i bought a 30 day pass to all this!

So because of all the commotion on the bus, it caused myself to miss my connection to Fort Worth. I was told to wait four hours at dallas for the next one. They never announced it and i missed that too. So i thought stuff it I will just see Dallas for the day and catch another overnighter tonight to Memphis.

You think it would be hot in Texas. Its not. Theres not really much to do in Dallas, but one cool thing. Go to the place where Lee Harvey Oswald shoot JFK. Its a museum, called the sixth floor museum, and it goes into JFK's life, the conspiracies, and a minute by minute lead up to his death. Was awesome. You even get to look down at where the bullet was shot from. Theres a x on the road where he was shot in the head!

What makes the site so good is that they have left everything exactly as it was. The only thing that has changed is one sign and they have added street lights. You can even go stand at the grassy knoll! and the orignal fence is there. Its so bizarre!

The only other thing i did in texas, was go to the library. Where the homeless go to keep warm when they have been kicked out of the greyhound. I think i know how to survive as a homeless person when i get home. Just sit and read books all day and sleep in bus stations and use Macdonalds as a toilet. The simple life...

I did look for Walker Texas ranger the whole time I was there. I couldn't find him! People do walk around in cowboy hats and it seems everyone drives the big ute he has. Dallas is a quiet city where all the streets seem deserted. But its worth a day visit just for the JFK site. I didnt go to the rodeo but ohh well. It was a saturday and i realised hotels would be double. There was a hostel in the middle of nowhere but there was no transportation to and from it on a sunday! Thus the need to have a car and thus the need to take the overnight bus again at night to Memphis. Also the Superbowl was on and i didnt want to be travelling and miss it!

When you're in Texas, look behind you,

'Cause that's where the rangers gonna be.

--- I forgot to look behind me --- So i missed chuck. Imagine if i got a picture with him!
