In order to begin i first need to give some history on John Battam.
John Battam was a work mate at ASI solutions. The computer place i used to work for. One day there was a boxing ring out the back. It was joke boxing with big gloves on a jumping castle with helmets. John used his sheer height to push me over thinking he was all that. I bided my time until he took a big swing, i then got him in the gut then uppercutted him in the face causing him to shriek in pain. John had blood all over his mouth and his shirt and to this day has not been able to live it down. He even got to the point where he was going to leave the company in shame. But i feeling guilty had to pretend like my glove fell off a bit and i hit him with my bare hand to make him feel like it was a cheap shot
In the movie hostel, the backpackers goto Bratislava beacause all the men were killed in the war and the women were desperate. This is not true as there hasnt been a war in a long time. The backpackers also all die and disapear after the first night, none of this did happen here, but the hostel i am staying at (the only hostel almost - Downtown backpackers) is dimly lit and is run by bizarre people who dont seem to smile much and give me the heeby jeebeys.
In the movie Eurotrip, Bratislava is 20 years behind in everything. Its so not. And in the movie, you can buy a hotel with a penny, and stay in a flashy hotel for a next to nothing. Slovakia is pretty expensive actually. Accomadation is like 25 - 30 bucks a night for dodgy, and meals are about 10 bucks for something decent. Maccas cost more here too!
I spent my first day in Bratislava walking around once again, another OLD TOWN!! It is very nice and has a different feel to all the other old towns ive been.
The only bad thing apart from the dodgy hostel that happened to me in Bratislava happened to me on the first night when i went to the 24hour chemist to pick up some shower stuff for my disease. I was talking to the lady and this young guy walked up, around about my age and just busted in and started talking to her. Then as i went back to talking to her after he was still standing next to me saying something and tapping on his leg. At first his caught my pocket and i looked at him to say no worries. Then 5 seconds later his fingers bumped my pocket again. I got a bit cluey and gove him a bit of a filthy and steeped a bit away from him. As im paying i see his right next to me with his fingers in my pocket trying to take my wallet or my phone. I blew up!!! Yelled at him to get away from me he started to play innocent, so i just clicked it at him in front of a few people and he walked away. I was so angry after, i wanted to run into him somewhere. Not that my wallet had anything in it. Maybe 20 bucks, and my phone is crap. It was just the principle.
After that i was going to leave Bratislava the next day. But i didnt.
I would not put down Bratislava at all because of the pick pocket, beacause it could happen absolutley anywhere. He was actually dressed better then i was. But he was a lousy pickpocket. I also forgot to mention while in prague and sitting at a dodgy park outide the main railway station i saw a guy buying a white powder from a big fat vicky pollard looking lady sitting on the bench. I then realised that i was sitting in a dodgy park where everyone on the benches beside me was dodgy.
Anyway. Bratislava is a beautiful place. Not dangerous. Cheap compared to Austria. The cafes and stuff even play delta goodrem and midnight oil. I heard lost without u twice in one day in two different places. And yes the food is still small. I got a schitnzel and coke for 15 bucks oz and there was no meat, just bread crumbs. Maccas was needed to fill the gap!.
So to John, its ok to come here. I survived. Hope you like my little entry about yourself. Hi Pete and Chris and whoever else at ASI.hehe
