The Ger Camp

This is the place I am coming to when im 40 and divorced. Let me begin and explain the story of a great horse.................... My Legendary Steed!!

We left for the Ger Camp which was about 1 hour out of UB. Now you'd think 1 hour away isnt that far. But when the city is surrounded by Green hills its far enough. The Ger Camp we went to was in a National Park. Our Gers were situated amongst green hills and beautiful mountains. With mist in the morning, horses, goats, sunsets, tons of shooting stars. It was more than beautiful.

Our first day was spent horse riding. My new found gift! I jokingly told Nomin that I was a professional horse rider back home, which she completley believed. I didnt think that she would be bringing me the fastest and most lethal horse. I then explained to her I was mistaken and explained how I have only ridden a horse once in my life and I hurt my groin for 1 month.... It was then... I met my soul mate........

He looked a little lazy at first. I hoped on. He began to nod his head as if he was listening to Metallica. It was the flies you see. We rode slowly with the group at first.... i pondered what to call this great animal. I learnt how to say go in Mongolia "Chooo" and stop "Zogs!". He responded immediatley, without the need to kick. I also learnt such important quotes as the important line Noohoi hori "Take your dog away!"

He wanted to lead like any good horse, then we began to trott, some people galloped, not my horse, i said Zogs! and he slowed down. Once our relationship grew, we began to gallop, we were like kindrid spirits, we could read each others minds. What name I shall give him, It was then obvious................ STEVEN!!!

Steven was the best horse there, My Steven. Other people horses went crazy. Not Steven!
I asked for him for him the next day when i should ride again.

In the middle of this horse trip we got off, visited some caves and stuff. I was whipped by Nomin, then there was the offer to dress up as a king. How could I refuse!!

In the old days a Mongolian would kidnap his wife. I kidnapped Nomin.

Our nights were spent in one big ger dinning thingy. They killed a goat for us (a lot of meat and bones). There was also a lot of spaghetti and vegemite consumed. My stock is now exhausted and I may have to return home for resupply.

Many a game of "Shithead" was played and a game called "1 2 Pass" where your goal is to get 4 cards of the same. Once you have 4 cards you perform an action. For instance I ran to the ger and back to my seat. This caused poor Nomin to clash heads with Dimity, which I blamed on Richard. The rumour was spread which has not been proven untrue that Richard punched Nomin in the face. Poor Richard has a bit of a history of violence, Burning people and punching the tour guide in the face. It is my belief that he is the lead singer of the streets on holiday.

I also learnt a cool drinking game, with animals. Explain when i get home. I of course was the horse!

We went to a Mongolian Nomad's house. I asked him the question that I had been born to ask.

"Are you cattle fattening well?"

He replied with a thumbs up!!

All other days at the Ger Camp were filled with trekking up hills, swimming and floating in icy strams, throwing Rocks across those streams, doing some archery, and watching Mongols wrestle in Undies. Then there was the saddle horse attrocity!

The saddle horse attrocity occured when on my next horse adventure I arrived at the stables. Only to find that my steven was not there!! Instead I rode a different horse, an evil horse....

This horse had a broken saddle and as it galloped, my feet were left hanging, it has been the closest I have come to death so far. The Mongolian dude urged my horse to go faster and faster which didnt help matter. I swapped my horse half way with the taller Ed (Liam/Noel Gallagher/IRA Leader), and got a white stoner horse. Which refused to do anything but walk.

After the Ger Camp went back to UB and stocked up for a long train trip. Visited a monastery where the big budha statue had been stolen by the Russians for bullets in WW2. Said goodbye to Nomin, and bought a minature Ger Camp with a little Steven as well.

All in all 3 nights, 4 days at the ger camp. Amazing place. In Mongolia, anyone can live anywhere. No one owns the land. So I have decided one day to come here and buy a Ger for a few hundred dollars and spend my days here with my Kidnapped GF and a horse called Steven.
