GOOD MOORNING VIEETNAAM!!!

I was deployed in Saigon, Vietnam yesterday, the VC is everywhere. Theres Charlie coming from all flanks and the whole situation is FUBAR.

hehe... thats right, im in Vieetnamm. I cant say it normal have to say it cool styles.

Well i left Cambodia after staying a night in the capital again. The transport to Saigon was interesting. Some guy got travel sickness and threw up on the bus with windows that cant be opened. Crossing the border was strange to, on one side you have Cambodia with its pretty Temple to walk through, on the other you have this Utilitarion building to walk through for Vietnam. Also at the Cambodian border they had 2 Casinos!, i was so tempted to play. Im thinking Vietnam doesnt allow casinos or something...

I had another wierd incedent at the border crossing. I was waiting in line to get my passport checked when a vietnamese worker came up to me and squeezed my right arm, he went "oooooowwwhhh!" Very strong arm. I was pissing myself then he said. "Is that your Girlfriend" pointing towards the pretty Asian girl in front, i said no of course. He said with his hand still holding my bicep "Do you want a Boyfried?" I didnt here him at first, because of the broken english + i didnt believe he said BF, i assumed it was gf. He wrote down an address of a Gay hotel for me. He walked away saying "Boyfriend" "Boyfriend" a few times and looking back at me with a big grin. I looked back at the Canadian Guy and went WTF!! We were in tears! Why do these Gay moments happen to me!!!!

In Saigon...

Was looking for a cool guesthouse with a sitting area, dvd's, menu, etc, so i could meet new people, chill out in the gaps in the day. Nothing like that here, mainly cheap hotels. I got a hotel for 4 dollars with Air con, Satelitte tv, big bed. Pretty cool. Its at the top of 120 stairs. So high, no elevator. Its wierd how you meet people when you travelling.

I bumped into a guy i spoke to for 2 seconds on a bus 2 days ago, and then we bumped into these irish girls, had dinner, few drinks. I would never do that at home. But im so lonely here i talk to anyone, people in resturaunts, bar girls. Actually its more the locals talk to you. I dont think i ever start the conversation. They are all so interested in your life as they cannot afford to leave Vietnam.

Had a so so day today. Went sightseeing. No tuk tuks here, just Motorbikes. They say 8 million people 4 million motorbikes. I started walking to the sights and got lazy after all the bike guys offering lifts. This one guy stalked me down the street enough i said, yeah whatever. He had a Ricashaw, or whatever you call it. A bike with the seat at he front. Took me to the war musem. I though cool until i realised it was made by the Viet Cong in 1975. Its all propaganda about annilating the US insurgance. It was all photos of the US killing civilians and gasing babies, and of North Vietnams courage. Had cool US helicopters and tanks and stuff. All sorts of guns. It did have some nice stuff about the US, but pretty much just went on about USA stuffing up the country. Had deformed babies in jars and stuff. They had a big souvineer store, i thought cool, the chance to buy some cool dog tags. Im looking... going these look so 60's!! then i realise.. wait these are real american soldier dog tags, with real peoples names on them, it was off. Dead American soldier's dog tags for 5 dollars each. I asked the lady where did she get them, she said "American Solder". I was half tempted for a second, then i realised how wrong it was to sell and to buy dead soldiers dog tags.

Went to some other place called the Indepence museum or something like that. Was full of more propaganda. More dog tags, even personal effects of US soldiers, Watches, compasses, wallets, was real disgusting.

He also tried to get me to go to a massage, which was "more" than a massage.

My buddy Nyon rode me to his home, where he grabbed his motorbike and we took off to see more sights. I came very close to death as he went the wrong way up one way streets and weaved through thousands of bikes. Saw all the sights, he put his old sweaty hate on my head, bought me a couple of drinks, he showed me pictures of his family, and i even wrote in his recommendation book. When i said i wanted to go back, and we got to the paying, well thats when it all hit the fan.

We agreed on 50 000 dong an hour. Thats about 3 dollars an hour. Good by Oz standards but very crap by vietnam standards, considering my room is 4 dollars a night. He took me around for about 4 hours, bought me a water and a pepsi. He wanted 450 0000 dong. I blew up. He was begging saying he is very poor and he cant feed his family. i gave him 350 000, said thats all the DONG i have. Thats about neart 25 bucks. Thats a weeks pay to them. I said dont worry bout taking me back ill walk (only round the corner). He grabbed my arm, wouldnt let me go. Wanted to take me to a bank. I was about to unleash. Said im going and just walked off.

It sucks because he was so nice, always asking me if i was ok, talking about his friends and vietnam. I didnt mind to much giving him oz 30 something bucks because i did see a lot. But it was the principle. He is in the photos as evil man hehe. Although i sort of feel sorry for him.

Very Very home sick!! Almost got on a plane to come home except i was convinced my family and friends not too. Miss my Brit girls very much. So lonely without them!! Mentally fatigued and cant be bothered going on. Seen one building youve seen them all hehe. Keep the emails up so i dont get to lonely and can read something to fill in the gaps.
