21.23 - We have had a nice day of r & r today for a change. Up until now, it has been early starts and involved moving around. It has made a change to be able to get up reasonably late and take our time over things. At breakfast we had a slight comedy moment when we mistook the natural yoghurt for cream cheese. We helped it into our bowls, added honey then got a nasty shock when we got round to tasting it. After eating, we got our stuff ready for a trip to Safaga to go snorkelling. From our original group, only Robert & Vicky, Cindy & Kalvin then me and Mum remain. Today there were only 4 of us as Rob & Vicky were making their own plans. In total though there were 18 of us and it took two minibuses to take us the hour trip to Safaga. Once there we got kitted out and boarded our boat then we were off. It was only a 20 minute journey before we reached our first stop. Sadly it was already jam packed with Russian tourists spoiling the whole atmosphere by playing their music at top volume a spoiling the mood in general.

Anyway, we got ready to go on our first paddle. I finally got chance to use my snorkel and goggle set which I have been lugging round all this time. The water wa warm which justified our decision not to get a wetsuit at EŁ40 (despite their best efforts) and straight away we could tell that the snorkelling would be good. We could see loads as the water was super clear and had plenty off reefs for us to swim round. It didn't take me long to back into it and before long, I was diving down pretty deep and having fun. The coral reefs and fish were really good quality and our half hour or so went quickly. Cindy had a digital underwater camera which turned out to be pretty good. It captured the colours really well and she got some of me swimming underwater.

Once we were done at this spot, we moved on to another which was even better. From here, we went to a small island near where we had our lunch before jumping onto a glass bottomed boat to take us to the island itself. There is not much to tell about it because it was crap! The island itself was packed with Russian's who seemed to be doing the same route as us. This did have it's goof side though as there were some extremely fit girls there and I couldn't help but leer at them the way Matty does back home! That said, there is a reasonably good looking girl on our tour. Everyone else is old, fat and boring representing the typical tourist which in our eyes is bad news. So we did one more snorkelling excursion from the island which was probably the best of the lot although the coldest. There was quite a strong current as well which meant we couldn't go as far as we would have liked. Once we had finished, we went back to the main boat and from there back to Hurghada passing some Russian looking hotels complexes with onion domes! We spent a few minutes resting then went out for some tea at a nice seafood restaurant. Next door was a great sweet and pastry shop which we couldn't resist! I think we will be buying some presents from there. We are now back at the hotel watching The Grudge 2 which is quite creepy!
