I signed up for a three day tour of the salt flats and the nearby parks. There are a lot of tour operators in Uyuni but they all do the same trip, to the same spots. They all also use 4x4 SUVs with four to seven people in them. Every time we stopped there is between four and ten other trucks stopped at the same place. There is plenty of space everywhere so it never seems crowed.

The first stop was at the Train graveyard, an area where they dumped a bunch of non-functioning steam trains. After that we where out on the salt flats. It is crazy because it is flat and white as far as the eye can see. there are some mountains on the horison but they are so far a way that they do not move at all while you are driving. Aparently because it is so flat and there are so few clowds it is often used to calibrate satelites.

The first night we stayed in a building mostely built out of bricks of salt.
