Where I stayed
End of my Teaching Experience + London Dungeons
So, thus this week was my last week and it was... emotional. Thursday was my final day working with Fiona (my main classroom teacher). Words can't even express what a difference it's made in my philosophy as a teacher and as a person working with her. Seeing the consideration and the creative teaching was phenomenal. I remember being apprehensive at first... wondering if we would get along. 8 weeks later and I can't believe I won't be working with her again. There have been so many moments and laughs. My class presented me with this book of individual cards they each made me, which was lovely. At the end of the day, I read another bit of the book I've been reading *Wolf Brother* as like a closing, and I had a couple girls tearing up.
Friday was even more emotional. It was sooo hard to say goodbye to my kids. Yup, I teared up. In assembly, the principal presented me with a bouquet of roses and a pencil cup from the local craft shop. Tearing up on the way out, Sue was kind enough to make me a cup of tea. We finished the day with a PowerPoint of all the things about America and exchanged email addresses. I've already had multiple emails from my students wanting to stay in touch. Sue and I exchanged our goodbyes and I headed out. It was surreal leaving the school. I've had such an amazing experience there! The students, the curriculum, the staff, all of it has been wonderful... I've learned soo much!
Once home on Thursday, I headed out with a few of the group to go see Green Zone. Thought I was gonna hate it... actually really really liked it! Shocker! So that was entertaining.
Friday night was out in Chi with the group to some local places. It was nice to get out. From there plans developed for this week. Since I don't have school, I'll be traveling around with Suse. So far the plan is to head to Strattford upon Avon and Oxford for a couple days, then head to bath for another coupleish days. After getting back on Thursday, we're heading to Brighton for the evening. Friday night is Calum's play, which I'm super excited for! After the play its my final night out with the group before I leave... so Thursday's it is!
Saturday was the big day in London. I met up with Shiv, Rob, Craig, and Mike for the train in Barnham. We headed up to London. Once we got off at the Tower Bridge we lost ourselves wandering for a half hour before finding the line for the London Dungeon. The line that we thought would be an hour ended up being 2. Either way it was still excited. Wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be but not gonna lie... I jumped a couple times. Loved the drop zone-ish ride at the end and the Sweeney Todd bit. Good fun. Afterward, a brief stop in a pub before meeting up with SOFI! :-) We headed to another pub so the boys could see the start of the Ireland and Scotland rugby game. Not gonna lie, that sport is growing on me. Anyway, so then it was off to a really excellent Belgian dinner at Belgo. Excellent food, and the company wasn't bad either :-p Took the train back to Bognor which was entertaining enough by itself. From there... it was SHEIKS... the addiction that doesn't stop. Sofi and I finally crashed back at my place around 2:30... so not too bad.
Next morning was excellent! After Sofi and I woke up we chilled and had breakfast on the back porch just talking for a bit. Around noon Sofi headed out to Chi and the family went to Scott's big game!!! Finals for his football team. It was the most intense game ever. Double over time and penalty shots... THEY WON!!! I practically lost my voice from screaming so much. I was beyond impressed with my host brother's footy skills. :-) After the game, the ladies (myself, Michele and Chloe) did a proper Cream Tea experience. I loved it! My host mum had to teach me how to work the thing, but it was a great learning experience. So I just learned how the process works and we just hung out a bit. It was excellent. :-) Drove back and relaxed the rest of the night. Amazing weekend! :-)
Saturday my mom gets here! So excited for London again and Paris!!!
I'm soo revved up for the next two weeks, but am not ready to go back to the States. I'm kinda in love with it here.
