August 29, 2006
I have officially adopted 3 wonderful children aboard the ship. That's right. I have replaced the void of my fabulous little sister with Amelia, the 12 year old daughter of our philosophy professor. She's such a little tomboy and super sweet. I've also latched on to my psychology professor's family - his incredible wife and 2 wonderful sons. We have our evening post-dinner chat complete with how our respective classes were, hopes for upcoming trips, and many funny faces and knock-knock jokes (we all know my love of children's jokes!)
Classes went well today - only 2 of them, my Psych of Adjustment which sounds challenging - but wonderfully interactive! We discussed the definition of "Abnormal" after my professor demonstrated the concept via a puppet show to go over part of the syllabus. Terrifically entertaining, and mildly terrifying :) Then, Global Studies, which was a little dry for my taste, but informative, nonetheless. Lots covered pertaining to our generation of the Millenials.
Had lunch on the deck... took a nap, bought a new alarm clock. Today, I had a rough time with... time. My alarm clock stopped functioning and my pink watch battery died at lunch :( Sad. Luckily, I brought an extra watch!
Going to Community College tonight to watch the documentary on race... I'm very intrigued. All in all, I'm feeling super happy and content right now. Finding my niche nicely (I've been called a social butterfly by at least 3 people in 24 hours.)
The waters a gorgeous blue... the sky's overcast. Tonight's the last time I'll be a teenager... but I'm excited, nonetheless. Here's to a grand new decade :)
