The last few days have been non-stop go go go. So today Mel and I took it eeeeeeasy. Slept in. Brushed my teeth with bottled water at the kitchen sink. Still no electricity or water. Ahh, the life of a traveller :0)
Had a delicious Japanese lunch. (Food here is soooo good). After many visits to public toilets (due to Mel's gastro - the toilets are very clean), we arrived at Oedo Onsen Monogatari.
They even have a dog Onsen next door.
Spent 4:30pm - 10pm here. Soooooo relaxing.
We changed into our Yakuta which is a Japanese robe and obi sash. And headed off into the hot spas. After getting used to the original unease of walking around fully naked, Mel and I really enjoyed the hot spas. It was very liberating walking around in the nude. There were several spas and an outdoor garden. It was extremely relaxing and hot! Most of the spas were 40 degrees celsius. We even tried the hot hot sauna which was 80 degrees celsius.
The hot spas were in the Edo period, it was a very Japanese style. We sat in round wooden tubs out in the Japanese garden. Lazed in the rock gardens. Inside, there were large pools, jet spas and a milky bath.
Before and after the hot spas, you shower yourself sitting on stools. After showering and the hot spa they have everything provided to pamper yourself. Hair dryer, moisturiser, hair product, even sterilised hair brushes. We were both very spoilt.
We walked around and had soba noodles for dinner. We even tried throwing some ninja stars!! There were shops selling all sorts of cute Japanese souvenirs like cartoon cookies and cakes, bags and anything with Hello Kitty on it.
Japanese Soba noodles for lunch in the relaxation room. ahhhh delicious.
All in all. A extremely relaxed day. Definitely needed after the horrible hike up mount fuji.
IMPRESSION: Vending machines are everywhere!! We even found the infamous underwear vending machine.
