Lisa: Amarillo bound I sang all the way there, "is this the way to Amarillo" I couldn't stop, for once the lyrics made sense!! We arrived quite late so decided to check in to yet another cheap motel the n head straight out to 'The Big Texan’ which is a steak restaurant. Here you can take up the challenge of a 72oz steak, bread rolls, salad, a baked potato, and shrimp, if you manage to eat all this in 1hour you get the meal for free, if you fail its $72!! Beyers was quite tempted but I managed to talk him out of it! He did have steak but only a normal portion size (Well it was still 600g). We got chatting to the waitress who was really nice, I told her I didn’t eat meat and she couldn’t understand what I was doing at a steak restaurant! I told her it was LOVE for my husband! She told me there was nothing on the menu for me, not even fish! I swiftly corrected her that there was fish on the menu, she could believe it she had never taken an order for fish and didn’t even know it was an option!! Well there’s a first for every thing! We asked her who was the youngest person to complete the steak challenge, an 11year old boy and the oldest a 69 year old woman! There was an Ozzy who did it in 14 mins, but the quickest was a professional eater from New York, doing it in 8 minutes!! Bey was desperate to come back and get a south African on the board!! No no no I had to put my foot down! The sit you up on a stage with a huge timer and a bucket to be sick in! Yuck! Nah we saved our money!!

The next day we went for breakfast at the motel not realising we had gone through a time change once we crossed over to Texas, they are an hour ahead! Oops, luckily the lady still gave us some food so we were happy. We got chatting to a family in the breakfast room about our travels and how we came to be in Texas. We asked them about themselves and later discovered a terrible tragedy brought them to Amarillo. They explained that one of their family members, the guys niece had decided to move to Texas from California to start a new life with her family. The car was packed and they headed off for the long drive. Along the way something fell from the car so they pulled over on the motorway to pick it up. A woman driving behind them some how ploughed into the back of the car pinning the young mother to the car. They explained that this happened yesterday and since then the 37 year old had both her legs amputated. Please pray for this family, it was such a shock to hear and such a sad story. Wow we were devastated for them all, we wished them well, I know this is tough to say but she lived and that is the best way to look at such a sad story. I have since prayed lots for this woman I never even met!

After breakfast we needed a pick me up so went to a huge cowboy store that’s sells EVERYTHING cowboy!! Beyers did well here, he finally got some cowboy boots, it didn’t stop there he also got some jeans and a shirt!! All kitted out we to the mall in search of a cinema. We found one and an awesome popcorn shop, every flavour under the sun! The cinema was only $1.80 each, so so cheap! We watched ‘The Internship’ which was very light hearted and good fun. It was a rainy day so prefect for the cinema, we hit the road again to a place called Shamrock, no reason to go there just to sleep really! It is on route 66, we have tried to do as much of that as possible. We got to the check in desk for the lady to ask where we were from, I could hear she had an English accent so thought I would be precise as to where I am from, turns out her daughter was born in Hillingdon Hospital!! Small world!
