Delighted to find that it was only dos personas for the first part of our trip with Intrabus.  Having fun trying to cobble together my Spanish to understand what the drivers are saying - English a tad tricky for them too.  So each of us will babble on and then human nature being what it is, we simply say Si, Si or Yes, yes, pretending to totally understand each other when still processing in our mind ...did I use French instead of Spanish?  are we really hauling our bags on the ferry or will the bus be going on the ferry?  etc etc.

So off we go!  smooth as silk until we arrived at a second rest stop...hmmm - we have just had one...oh!!  another bus arrives and we transfer to it to be taken to the port and YUP!  somehow we understand another driver will be riding over on the ferry to take us and another couple onto the ferry and into another van to take us to our next location.  All good - a great front row seat and Rich is happy - he can buy a Cervesa onboard!!  HOT!!  hauling those bags onto the ferry and then off again not a treat.

Yet another driver on the other side and hmmm, a different, virtually "no shocks in the thing" kind of bus.  We drop the other couple and move to front seats where we can grab a bit more AC - whew!  off we go again.  Pretty narrow roads, lots of very basic living conditions - reminding us of India except the roads weren't quite as congested.

And THEN....now I'd read a TripAdvisor report that the road into the place we were staying was rough but I didn't think THIS rough...o my goodness...where had I led us this time??  and would we ever get out if the rains got worse??  hard packed roads with rocks solidly imbedded, great gulley's along the sides which the driver periodically would drive in.  Have they never heard of a grader????  This was insane! Loco!  and the driver said yup! Crazy and the van only went to one km before where we are staying! oh dear...how would we get that last km but I fully understood - I wouldn't want to drive any further either!  a cool extra $10 USD and we convinced him to take us that last bit with another $10 tip for the great driving.  The last km was even crazier - HUGE potholes like 5-6 feet across and full of muddy water - he knew these conditions though and got through it.  Most vehicles at this point were either ATV's or 4 wheel drives or motorcycles - we knew why!

AND THEN!! we landed in an oasis of incredible beauty, amazing accommodation, wonderful people and we understood...we had arrived in Paradise!!!.  The pictures show the beauty.  The reason for the rough road and not wanting it differently was to preserve the place for the brave of heart and those who learned how gorgeous this place is. But honestly!! THAT rough?? our bodies felt battered and bruised and I was exhausted by it all - heh. A swim in the heavenly pool helped. umm, no, I think I'll pass on the 4 pm yoga session... Dinner was phenomenal organic yumminess and I fell into bed at 8 pm!!
