Taking time to research areas to see and visit really paid off.

After quick snooze we hopped the train into the centre of the city. Standing room only and what to do when there are no overhead grips? Sweet young guy with cane simply put his hand on my shoulder when the train lurched unexpectedly :) for the first stop.  Second stop, must have been rush hour; oh my goodness, squished!  So where does one put their other hand?  I don't want to breathe his breath!  And way too up close and personal belly to belly!  ahhh I can have one hand holding my purse and the other my collar - no worries about falling over!

So there we were, wandering dark empty streets somewhere in downtown Frankfurt - frickin' chilly (were prepared with Icebreaker this time!) trying to read a map with names as long as one's arm.  I knew to look for pubs with wreaths as that meant they produced their own Apfelwein - a specialty of the area.  Wandered a couple of streets in Schsenhausen area (old town) to end up at the PERFECT Pub, Atschel on Wallstrase 7.  All tables with benches so we sat next to Diana (as we came to know her later).  She helped us with the menu for specialty dishes and wonderful chats.  All restaurants should have such arrangements!  So fun to chat with local people.  Tried their soft cheese called Handkase smothered with sweet pickled onions and served with pumpernickle bread (appie).  Rich had a Schnitzel while I tried some tender veal with their "typical" green sauce - Goethe style - have to find the recipe!  Dessert - lightly fried breaded apple rings with just a smidge of vanilla ice cream.  Divine!!

Walked back to main station to help food settle!  after eating Ayurvedically for a few weeks the systems were going "what the heck??".  Hated to leave as many were just setting up for Christmas markets on the streets heading back :(.  Another time...

Popped a sleeping pill, up for a bit of yoga and leisurely breakfast in our lounge and hopped the plane to Bangalore.
