Synopsis: Long but comfy journey through Chicago/R's phone lost/broken computer at theatre=free tickets/home with the Canaries

Highlight!! The Adventure to get tickets to "Wicked" - Free!!

Arrived at hotel about 8 a.m. and slept for 6 hours!  Hopped the Tube to Leistersquare to 1/2 price ticket booth for tickets to Wicked - hottest musical on in London (soon to be in Vancouver - GO!!) but alas not on on Sunday and too new for 1/2 price tickets.  Back on the tube to Victoria Station to Apollo Theatre - keep forgetting how wonderful these old small theatres are.  Because of lightening? storm? all computers were down so you can imagine the difficulty to get tickets.  There were seats available but no ability to purchase except through Ticketmaster - no phone - Bevin befriended a Brit who was awesome, got 3 tickets for a French family as they needed a translator but by the time she was ordering ours and 3 more, 7:30 (show time) passed and nothing could be done for the rest of us :(.  The Manager with hands tied, was kind and gave us souvenir programs to appease us and then, when hearing Ticketmaster couldn't help said "wait a minute - bloody hell..."  and went to the ticket booth and hand wrote 5 tickets.  Because the computer receives payment - he didn't have the ability to collect payment!!  Tickets all free!! Just asked us to make a donation to St. John's ambulance - charity of the eve.    and what a show!!!  3 hours of magic!!  The effects and costuming with an incredibly intricate stage kept us spellbound!  cannot believe how engaged we both were!  Witch training explained and what's with the Wizard of Oz??  still a mouse - delightful modern interpretation.  OK imagine R and I having our nightcap discussing Lion, Tin man and the Scarecrow - heh heh. The Wizard of Oz was not a prime story in my childhood - think I neglected my boys as well - ah well - now is good too.

So now back "home" at Canary Wharf Hilton - cheap!! and breakfast and snacks all day long in Executive lounge.  We were always curious about the Wharf - modern London which seems odd but works for now - will take ferry on the Thames to come and go tomorrow.  London has established what looks like a super "rent a bike" program so after Easter Sunday church at St. Paul's Cathedral - we'll explore more of London by bike as after all - "Anyone who is bored in London, is bored of life" - can't remember who's quote but works!
