Day 3 - A Day at sea en route to Bergen.

The sun is shining again as we head to breakfast. This morning we went to the main restaurant, Pole to Pole. Cereals and fruit are from the buffet but all other dishes are served by ever smiling waiters. It was worth going to the buffet area just to admire the decorative murals set into a curved wall. There were three murals, London &  Venice but I was unsure of the Norwegian view so I'll have to check the location another time.

Usually on our cruises when we have days at sea we enjoy the warm sunshine on the sun deck but despite the sun being out it wasn't really warm enough for lazing about. We sat for a while outside in the verandah area and although some passengers were snuggled up in blankets on deck loungers we opted to stay inside today.

Susan Leng one of the onboard lecturers gave an interesting talk on Andalsnes, our port of call on Saturday after Bergen so it was interesting to learn about the history and the sights of this town and surrounding area. It wasn't long before lunch time came around but despite a great choice we opted for just soup as our breakfast still hadn't fallen from its shelf !

More interesting travelling tales from our dining companions, I am already thinking this holiday is definitely going to be one of sharing travelling experiences around dining tables and we will certainly be able to keep up with the conversations. In the afternoon I went along to listen to another presentation, this time the subject was "Our Solar System". It was quite interesting but as I glanced around the room I did notice a few nodding heads, just as well David had escaped to the bar.
The signal for WIFI on the ship is better down on the 4th deck so off I went to send the blog from IJmuiden, it wasn't long before the room started to fill, I had forgotten that at 4pm there was a Legs Bums & Tums session with the Fitness Instructor. So folks I can now honestly say that I have attended such a class although I was just exercising my fingers as I tapped away on the iPad.
Tonight is formal night and the Captains welcome cocktail party, sounds grand but can you imagine if all 700 passengers attended it would be rather a crowded affair, so we will skip the formalities and have a quiet pre-dinner drink. Each evening we meet new people and tonight our dining companions including one of the male dance hosts, a dear old gentleman from Truro who introduced himself "Good Evening I am Roy From Cornwall". For a moment it sounded like we were on Blind Date! One of the other guests, would you believe another flower arranger, a lady who had recently retired and joined a local flower club. There seems to be a pattern emerging through the love of flowers.

After the meal David and I went up to the 11th deck lounge to enjoy the music of the resident Duo. It was soon time for bed and tomorrow we are due to arrive in Bergen around 8am. So not so much to report today but it has been nice just to relax and enjoy the sea views !

Sounds like you are well catered for interest wise. Had David found a drinking companion yet?

Fellow passengers don't seem to frequent the bar areas except for a coffee and a book! So he can honestly say "Wish you were here Wally"

Wish we were there too!
