Flag of Spain  , Balearic Islands,
Sunday, September 22, 2013

Lying just 90 miles off the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula, Ibiza is part of Spain's Balearic Islands, together with Mallorca, Menorca and neighboring Formentera.  The island is roughly eight miles wide and approximately 25 miles long.  Its coastline is nearly 200 miles of inlets, bays, coves and beaches.  Hills cover much of the island, and pine forests cover most of the hills.  The Carthaginians were there first, followed by the Greeks, Arabs and others.  Names changed over time depending on which particular conquering power happened to be in control of the island at the time.  Spain finally gained control.  The population is about 100,000 and tourism is their main business.

The weather is beautiful, in the 70's and 80's.  Couldn't be more beautiful!!!
