After having an early night last night, we then got to sleep in an extra half an hour this morning. We woke up at 7am today for a 7.30 breakfast. After breakfast we had a linen change which we do once a week. We stripped our beds, folded our sheets amd towles into piles and brought up new towels and sheets for us to make our beds. After we had changed our linen, we headed down to our project rooms for a 45 minutes project session. My project assessor is Ms Levy. We used this session to record observations and write our interview questions we would ask our homestay parteners. At 9.45 we headed to our class room to start or academic day. Today we were going to spend the day interviewing people on the streets about their jobs. We spent the morning practising the questions we would be asking and left the school at 11am. At 11.15 we spent 15 minutes interviewing people about their jobs on Zhong Shang Bei Lu and at 11.30 we stopped for icecream. We then headed to the bus stop where we caught but 31 to the centre of the city. When we got off the bus we went down to the subway to cross the road. We stopped to get some Chinese Tarts while we were crossing - they were custard and egg and it tasted really good. When we got to the other side of the road, our days task began.  We were in groups of 2 or 3 and we had to ask 3 people before lunch. It was really nerve racking going up to people and saying 'wo keyi ni gixie wenti ma?' (can I ask you a few questions?) because we got knocked back a couple of times but we got some really intresting results speaking to managers, secretarys, pharmasists and shop assistants. We then headed into a department store to a japanese resturant for lunch. After reading the menu a few times, I eventually decided on volcano noodles even though they were ranked 3/5 for spice. When my huge bowl of noodles arrived, they looked and tasted delecious and not spicy at all - it was great. After lunch we headed out of tje department store and to the bus stop to catch a bus back to the lane where we would finish our tast. We caught 2 buses back to the lane - 9 and 21. When we arrived at the lane we finished interviewing people down there. Some of the questions we asked included nin zuo shenme gongzuo (what job do you do), nin gongzuo mang ma (is your job busy) and nin juede gongzuo nan ma (do you think your job is difficult). We arrived back at the school at around 4 o'clock and joined with Di group for a quick disscussion about the results we recieved while we were out. At 4.30 when academic time was over, we had 15 minutes to quickly check emails before we had to head off to meet our homestay parteners. Tian and Di group headed over to the Nanjing Middle School for a chinese lesson with our homestay parteners. When we arrived back at the school at 6 it was straight into our Chinese banquet with cheesecake and icecream for dessert followed by singing happy birthday to Andrea. After dinner we had a 1 hour project session for research on our topics. After that we had 1 hour free time that I used to to update my travel pod, chat to mum and check my footy tips (and I got freo RIGHT!) At 9pm I asid goodnight and signed off. I went upstairs to write my journal, clean my teeth, have a shower and go to bed looking forward to reflection day tomorrow.

Sounds like you're having fun
Hi Bethany

It does sound like you're having fun there. I wish they had this when I went to CGS! YJ was as far as I got! No, I lie - in year 8 we had a bus trip that took us to the South Australia border and up to the mallee. Also went to Canberra for a short time. But not overseas!
Enjoy your time there and make lots of memories!
