Grandma and Grandad Potter´s day :)

So... the question you´ve all been waiting for...
Is it worth a 12 hour flight, no sleep for 48 hours and a dizzying time difference of 6 hours?
In a word "YES". Peru is AMAZING!
My first experience of Peru was in Lima, in our taxi from the airport... a traditional taxi with the obligatory lack of seat belts... (I feared for my life, I think I may have developed a nervous tick *Oink*) Listening to Alanis Morrisette and U2 whilst driving past Peruvian shacks presented a light juxta-position of incongruities (I had to use that phrase at least once, just be glad I got it out of the way this early).
The distinction between rich and poor was marked not so much by location - there were shanty towns interspersed with BMW  garages - but rather by ostentation (not sure if that is actually a word...) Some of the poorer houses literally had no roof, and had corrugated iron as walls. Whilst the richer people seemed to live in palatial-like apartments.

At the hotel in Lima, I got talking to the young man at the desk, he was really funny! (Don´t worry George, he was about 5ft nothing) We were talking about how we are both trying to learn Italian, and it really made me smile when he started telling me how much he liked ´Kuldply´... It wasn´t until he mentioned how sad he was that they only toured as far as Chile, that I realised he was talking about Coldplay! I think he was tempted to double my hotel fare when I told him I had seen them twice in concert. At $15 I´m not complaining!
Anyway, I will love you and leave you, Beth Xxxx
