This morning started with a trip on the bus from Florence to Pisa to see the leaning tower and the Campo de Miracoli. It all went well until the very end when Bernie started to feel unwell. By the time we got out of the bus and stood in the carpark at Pisa with the leaning tower in the distance Bernie was throwing up. It seems the small joint in Florence had some issues getting fresh cheese with the trucker strike going on. As everyone else happily climbed the tower Bernie sat at the bottom feeling quite unwell. Jess was nice enough to sit with her so the poor girl didn't get to climb the tower (which seriously does lean) either. The other buildings in the Campo were quite pretty and most of them lean as well (the foundations ain't so good for the whole place). Despite being unwell Bernie thought the place was quite pretty and didn't deserve the bad wrap it sometimes gets. You probably wouldn't spend longer than a day here though. And being winter there were not as many people selling things about. However, Bernie is actually quite partial to dodgy souveniers. After this the bus headed up to the Cinque Terre which was a place Bernie and Jess were both really looking forward to. Bernie had a great view of the squat toilets and bins of Monterosso. Jess learned how to buy anti-nausea medication in Italian. We both missed the group photo. But we did get to spend at least a little time on the beach. Jess frolicked. Bernie sat very quietly. We then headed straight back to La Spezia and didn't stop at the rest of the towns. Bernie promptly went to sleep and Jess explored a little and went to the group dinner where bananas were desert. Bernie spent most of the night curled up in a blanket nest she had made in the bathroom. Jess spent most of the night awake wondering how to tell Italian doctors what Bernie's symptoms were.
