So we arrived in La Serena around 1pm, Decided to explore the town....it didnt take too long to decide that this was not somewhere we would stay for long. It is meant to be a beach town, so we decided to take a stroll to the beach. Unfortunately, it wasn't exactly a stroll by any means but about 30 mins down one very long and boring road! When we got there we thought a nice coffee would help b4 the walk back, but it was deserted. To be fair the beach was lovely and huge with lovely sand but there was just nothing there so we took the long boring walk back!

The next day we went on a tour to the Isla Damas to see penguins and sealions. It had to be one of the coldest days, I had on about 2 jumpers, scarf and my waterproof and was still freezing (although we have been told the next day was gorgoeus and sunny, hmm thanks for that...)!
However it didn't stop us, and we set off in as little boat to the islands where we were lucky to see Dolphins. Sadly, none of them were jumping out the water (think even they realised it was too cold for that!) so have many piccies of fins!!! We did also see many penguins and sealions and also a couple of otters which are rare to see, we all seemed most excited by them which is mad as those we can see at home!!! The tour dragged on a little at the end, more as we were so cold but ended with a nice hot meal trying out the local food which was yummy: fish stew, with locally caught fish and veg that was boiling hot!

That night we headed straight off to San Pedro, a nice 15 hours bs journey up North, we had planned to stop off at many towns on the way but had been advised that there was not that much to see other than some copper mines. So we sped on upwards....
