Thought I would put up some pictures of where I am living. Rent is fairly high in Georgetown, especially for foreigners. I have a suite in a decent sized house. It has air conditioning which is great. Electricity is very expensive but I got the landlord to agree to include it in my monthly rent. So I can keep the place cool without paying a fortune. I hear it can cost over 500US a month to keep a house air conditioned all the time, but my apartment is smaller and I only use it in the evenings.
I am in a neighborhood called Blygezight. It is about a 5-10 minute taxi ride to work, which costs less than 1.50US. There are also mini-buses which run regular routes and are cheaper, but Id have to wake up a fair bit earlier to take them in the morning. Havent done so yet.
I eventually got DSL internet installed. It took a few weeks to get them to do it. And it is capped at an extremely slow speed. It does allow me to make internet calls through Skype from the house which is great. Long distance calls are extremely expensive otherwise. I figure it will pay for itself.
