Well it's my last day in New York!  Can't believe how fast the time went.

I left the Portland airport on Saturday afternoon.  My flight was delayed about an hour due to high winds in JFK.  Fight was crazy turbulent but I like turbulence so it was all good.  JetBlue is actually a really good airline too.  I wasn't expecting much because it was so cheap but for a 50 minute flight there were TV's in every seat, we were fed doritos and cookies and given a bottle of water or full can of pop!  Bag arrived fine too!

In JFK, Liz met me at my baggage carousel.  Worked out perfectly.  Her flight was delayed as well, so she'd only been waiting 5-10 minutes for me.  We took a our hotel, and man, what a hotel!  The person Liz was babysitting for offered to upgrade our hotel as a goodbye present to Liz.  So Liz and I each paid $40, and Melissa paid the difference!  Thanks Melissa!  We're at the UN Millenium Plaza Hotel, on the 39th floor with a killer view over Mnahattan (just a few blocks from the Chrysler building!)

Our first night we checked in, then walked to Times square.  Insanity!  Big lights, big city.  Pretty much exactly how you'd imagine it, maybe even flashier!  We just toured around, maybe a bit stupefied, then grabbed some supper at Sbarro's, an Italian joint with decent prices.

Yesterday the housekeeping woke us up at 9 and we got showered and took the subway to South Ferry to catch the FREE Staten Island ferry to get some amazing views of New York and the Statue of Liberty.  When we docked back in NYC we walked...a lot!  we walked to Wall St., the World Trade center site, SoHo, Chinatown, Little Italy, and all up Broadway, then back to our hotel around 6PM.  We did sneak in a Chinese meal in Chinatown, followed by Italian deserts an Italian cafe.  Delish.

Right when we got back to the hotel, my friend Kelly met up with us.  She's a friend who I graduated  with and it turns out she is living in New Jersey so we decided to meet up.  We went out to a Mexican joint where they had $1 draughts, although pretty tiny glasses, still a good deal (especially for New York)

Another beauty sleep lastnight with an early morning knock-knock from housekeeping.  Just getting showered and packed and using our last hour of internet here at the hotel.  We were going to check out the UN headquarters but it turns out it's closed due to President's Day (who knew?)  So we might go up the Empire State building instead.  I'll let you know!

So crazy we fly to India tonight!  Can't believe it's here already.  It's been chilly in New York, but 3 days of cold then 2 months of sweletering heat...I think we'll be a tad jealous of how cold it was when we hit Delhi!  I'll let you know my first impressions of India as soon as I get the chance!
