Third time lucky.. We actually left for Naples with Jules, Zoe and Lu after our last big Siena lunch (they are sorely missed.. tear). It took us something like 4.5 hours to get ___kms… people definitely drive differently in Italy!! We arrived about 7pm and went out for pizza in the city where it was invented – it was pretty damn tasty!! After dinner we dropped Lu off at her place and we went with Jules to his office, and see the apartment there that Jules and Zoe are moving in to (nice and big and spectacular view over Naples!!) Then we went and got waffles with Nutella for dessert even though we couldn't fit them in – I was pretty sure I was going to explode... but you only live once kids! On the way home Jules took us via a street with great views over the bay Naples is on where all the young couples go and cover their car windows with newspaper so they can have some 'alone time’. There were quite a few couples ‘alone timing’ judging from the newspaper-ed cars parked along the street!

Had a lazy morning because it was raining, and Luigi (the cook) cooked us lunch – really yummy vegetable soup and a schnitzel thing (these Italians eat so much food!!). Megg and I went for a walk into the main part of Naples to have a look around, had a gelato, Megg bought some cute shoes, and then Jules picked us up and took us back to the house. Luigi cooked us fish for dinner, and we had a quite night watching TV with Zoe.

Next morning Megg and I got up and caught the train to Pompeii! We walked around for quite a few hours and saw all the sites. I’d been there before but it’s a pretty amazing place – a whole ancient city preserved by being covered in volcanic lava – crazy. By the time we had finished walking around we were starving, so we went to the 1st place out of the exit and had an expensive and a bit average tourist lunch. We caught the train back to Naples and had dinner, then Jules took us out for cake and the very best gelato I will ever have in my life. It was seriously one of the most beautiful taste sensations on the planet and I had the privilege of enjoying it – it was chocolate flavor for the record, the best flavor there is. We spent the rest of the evening playing Guitar Hero ‘Beatles’ style with Jules and his brother Marco – it was heaps of fun because you get all the instruments, guitar, bass, drums and microphone J

Megg and I caught the ferry to Capri the next day, and got a highly recommended ham cheese and tomato roll, for lunch (it was pretty good..). We kind of accidentally walked up to the Capri town centre, it was pretty steep and a fair bit further than we thought it would be, but I’m sure the exercise did us good due to the copious amounts of food we had been eating! We walked streets with a bazillion other tourists, looking in the windows of all the fancy shops that are way out of our backpacker budget, and saw plenty of photos of the rich and famous in various restaurants (but didn’t see any actual famous people unfortunately…). We caught the bus to Anacapri and walked around there for a bit, and then I caught the chairlift to the very top of Capri (Megg was a chicken!!). We were really lucky and had good weather so the views were amazing, and it was very peaceful for once – not many tourists were up there weirdly enough. We caught ferry back to Naples and Jules and Zoe picked us up. We went out for dinner at nice restaurant with a great view over the bay, saw a small fireworks display on the otherside of the bay (apparently that means that either a mafia person got out of jail or something about drugs… ooooh!!) I tried lemon cello, and after went to bar for a drink – we ate a nutella cake and I had a really shit mojito (haven’t had a decent one yet in Europe – I miss Melbourne!), then finished the night with ‘Bride Wars’.

Slept in on our last day in Naples, but when we did get up Jules took us for drives in the Ferrari. What can I say, I won’t forget it in a hurry – beautiful beautiful beautiful car, it sounds GREAT especially in tunnels - WOW!! For the benefit of family member’s blood pressure I won’t say how fast we went, but I loved it and am now saving up for the rest of my life so I can have one. Everyone should go in a crazy fast car at least once in their lives I think - it’s the best fun ever! We had really yummy lasagna for lunch made by master chef Luigi, and then said our goodbyes to Zoe and Jules at the train station, and off to Rome we went. We had such a great time with them it was sad to say goodbye, but all good things must come to an end..

Italian life...
Hi little Anna! I am so jealous right now! I can fully picture where you were and the things you were doing - how good is living the life over there! I got tingles when you mentioned the Ferrari ride - so amazing in every way!

When you're back, we will ensure we have a good Mojito together!
xx
